Thinking Activity - A Tale of a Tub by Jonathan Swift

 HELLO READERS,

This blog is a part of thinking activity assigned by Vaidehi Ma'ma (Assi. Professor of  Department of English MKB University). In this blog I will try to define two types of questions.

How far do you think Digression is necessary?

Digression means talking about something different or going off track from the main thing you were talking about.

Digression can be useful in conversations or writing, but it should be used thoughtfully. It's like taking a side road during a journey; sometimes, it helps you explore interesting places or understand the main road better. Digression can be necessary when it provides more context, makes the conversation interesting, or clarifies things. For example, sharing a personal story can help connect with others or explain a point better. However, too much digression can make things confusing or boring. So, the level of digression needed depends on the situation and the goal. It's about finding the right balance between staying on the main topic and adding useful extra information.

Furthermore, digression is like a seasoning in your writing or talking. A little can enhance the flavor, but too much can ruin the dish. It depends on what you're trying to achieve so ,it's necessary to always consider your audience and your main message when deciding how far to go off-topic. Digression is the only way to catch happiness in continuous human life. Digression is providing the motivation to work good and not doing the over thinking in such things. Enjoy the life and don't think too much. Sometime distraction is great in life.

Identify any one movie/web series/song/poem/novel which talks about the sensitive topic like religion. Write in brief about it and explain what kind questions are raised through that work.

in W.B. Yeats' poem "The Second Coming," the poet talks about a world that's falling apart. It's like the rules and order we're used to are disappearing. This makes us wonder what happens when things we rely on, like our beliefs and ideas about religion, start to crumble.

The poem uses strong pictures, like a falcon that can't hear its owner and a scary creature coming. These pictures make us think about religion and spirituality during times when things are really confusing. Can they help us make sense of a world that seems out of control?

"The Second Coming" describes a kind of scary, big change happening in the world. This makes us ask questions about how religion fits into times of big change and how it can give us hope or add to the confusion by bringing in different beliefs.

To really understand the poem, we need to know it was written after World War I, a time when the world was in a lot of chaos. Learning about the history and beliefs of that time helps us see how the poem raises these questions. It makes us think about how big events, like wars and social changes, affect our understanding of religion and the world.

In simple terms, "The Second Coming" is a poem by W.B. Yeats that talks about a world falling apart and asks questions about how religion and spirituality fit into times of confusion and big changes.
